Who is Alexa?
While most people have heard this name and for some it is as commonly used as your spouse’s name, there are number of people that would like to know…Who is Alexa? Alexa is the name you call to wake up your Amazon Echo Device. Now you ask, what is an Amazon Echo Device? Echo device is Amazon’s brand of smart speaker that connects to your Wi-Fi, which let you access voice activated intelligent personal assistant service Alexa. Basically, you yell “Hey Alexa”, a blue light comes on to let you know she is listening, and you can just yell out all kinds of request. What is the weather today? Play Thunderstorms sounds…may favorite to play as I fall asleep at night. There is a whole list of things you can request from Alexa…from playing music, calculating math problems or even finding a definition of a word. I find that her greatest skills are controlling Wi-Fi Alexa enable devices. Like your lights, thermostat, oven, cameras and even your TV. Yes, you can yell out “Hey Alexa, open Netflix”. Now you do have initial set these things up but once you up and running you don’t have to touch it again. There are various models of the Echo Devices…but to start out all you need is the small little Echo Dot. It does everything that the more expensive models do.
Here is how to set up your Echo Dot Device.
- Download the Alexa App
- Plug in the Echo Dot
- Follow the on-screen direction in the app to connect to Wi-Fi
- You are all set start talking to Alexa
